Welcome to the Urban Native Forest, a unique urban ecosystem containing plants native to the Cascadia region of the Pacific Northwest, ranging from Northern California into Canada.
As you enter Nitro plaza you will notice a pedestrian bridge above you connecting Nitro North and Nitro South. The name Nitro came from our significant rewrite of our Amazon EC2 hypervisor technology. Hypervisor, in plain language, allows you to run multiple virtual computers on a single physical machine.
A retailer that you might have noticed is The Seattle Barkery. Born of local couple Ben and Dawn Ford, The Seattle Barkery is passionate about pets and pet rescue, specifically dogs. Four-legged friends are an Amazon favorite and it is estimated that 1 in 10 Amazonians bring their furry best friend to the office every day! While dogs are scientifically linked to many health benefits, they aren’t the only thing contributing to the health and wellness of our employees. At Amazon, we offer medical, dental, and vision coverage to all our regular full-time employees, regardless of their level, tenure, or position. This coverage starts on Day 1 of employment!
As humans rediscover the important role that ecosystem health plays in our survival, it is our responsibility to share our spaces with other living organisms. We hope these plants will inspire you to consider similar native plantings where you live, whether on your balcony, local community garden, or backyard.
